Rostom Mbarek

Postdoctoral Fellow

I am the Neil Gehrels Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Maryland and NASA Goddard. I earned my PhD in 2022 from the University of Chicago under the supervision of Damiano Caprioli and Scott Wakely. As a member of SCEECS, I plan to explore particle acceleration on a fundamental level in the vicinity of black holes, astrophysical jets, and beyond. The aim of these research endeavors is to better combine data from x/gamma-ray observatories, neutrino experiments, and UHECR detectors to enable a much-needed modeling refinement in High-Energy Astrophysics and beyond, and potentially relate plasma physics on the kinetic scales to detectable data.
