Dashon Jones
Ph.D. student
Dashon Jones is a 2nd year Rice graduate student in the Mustafa Amin group co-advised by Richard Anantua (UTSA, EHT). His current research focus stems from his NSBP/SAO EHT Scholars project involving new tests of general relativity by time delay light curve analysis of photon ring images including multiple order emission. Using a hotspot Sgr A* model and Gaussian processes, Dashon generates light curve templates in general relativity to compare with EHT and ngEHT observations with respect to several observables, including black hole mass, spin and inclination, plasma beta, hotspot density, size and trajectory. Dashon also models potential signatures of axions generated by superradiant production in the vicinity of supermassive black holes such as M87.
