In June 2025, UTSA became a lively gathering place for students and scientists drawn together by a shared curiosity about electrodynamics and plasma physics. For two weeks, twenty-one students from campuses stretching from Berkeley to Aix-Marseille learned side-by-side with nineteen lecturers from institutions like Stanford, Princeton, and Maryland. Conversations flowed, ideas mixed, and a sense of community formed as they explored phenomena found in the most extreme corners of the universe.

A number of students whose interests aligned closely with SCEECS investigators were invited to continue their journey through the SCEECS Research Scholars program, joining mentors at host institutions around the country. Their work is already leading to new manuscripts, including a Stanford project on how muon chirality may shape DNA handedness and a Maryland project probing the nature of plasma turbulence.
